diy – your own lil’ CNC

November 17, 2009

I have always wanted a CNC machine, but at a cost of tens of thousand, it was always a pipe dream.  That is, until now.  DYILILCNC is a project by Chris Reilly and Taylor Hokanson.  The pair of Chicago artist and educator created an open source set of plans and instructions, available to download, to make an inexpensive CNC machine for around $700.  Not only can you cut with a router bit, but you can use other tools such as markers or pens to do precise drawings.  This will be my on-going project.
